Ador and Surroundings
Ador is a small village with approximately 1400 inhabitants, located in the Valencian Community, one hour from the city of Valencia and 10 minutes from the historic city of Gandia.
I love it is located in the Safor, a well-known area among hikers. Beautiful tours depart from Ador into the mountains, as well as in the neighboring village of Villalonga.
In the village there is a bakery, where the baguettes are still baked on a wood fire, a grocer, a pharmacy, cozy bars on the town hall square and a beautiful large swimming pool. The beautiful church is definitely worth a visit. On Wednesdays there is a market next to the town hall!The festive weeks start in Ador in mid-August and the villagers show what partying is all about. Lots of music, beautiful parades, something you definitely want to experience at least once.
Below is my impression of the atmosphere, now that I have immersed myself in the village for a number of months:
Ador is a small village with about 1400 inhabitants. It is old and authentic, and apart from the modern app to communicate, there is still a public speaker in the village with a loudspeaker.
- When you walk through the small, narrow streets between the colorful houses, everyone greets you...Hola, Buenos diás
- When old people meet my old dog Touwtje, who barks at them because she feels insecure, they just smile and tell me that I have a beautiful dog (perra muy bonita)
- When the woman from the town hall understands that I now live in the house permanently, she will deliver a large plant pot, filled with a large Oleander, for my house. - When I ask the town hall if I need permission to paint my house, they say I can do whatever I want and that the color can even be purple
- When I walk through the streets, I see swallow's nests everywhere. I have one on the patio of my house and after the nest has fledged they come back every evening just to sleep.
- When I sit on the terrace of the bar, all I have to do is look at the owner and he says with a smile......café con leche.
- When I go to the huge swimming pool, they always greet me with, bienvenido (welcome) and make jokes
- When there is a church festival………all the bells ring and music is played in the streets. When I go to take a look, the old ladies invite me to sit next to them and explain the history of Spain and the village.
The list is endless, creating a positive and friendly atmosphere in the village.
The Beach
There are plenty of beaches in the immediate area. All beaches have a pleasant boulevard and restaurants where you can eat delicious tapas and Spanish menus!
Fifteen minutes away you will find Daimus, Bellreguard and Piles. You will also find beautiful white sandy beaches around Gandia
Gandia
Gandia is a 15-minute drive from Ador. A very pleasant historic city with a rich past and beautiful historic buildings. It is recommended to book a day tour with a guide. There is a long boulevard in the heart of the city, where you can enjoy delicious snacks and drinks under the trees. It is a cultural city, where there is always something going on in the field of music or theater.

While there's ample parking in the village, you can unload your luggage in front of the apartment and then park on the main road at the bottom of the village. A large parking lot is also available in a nearby side street.
